Fawden Development
Coman Construction successfully completed this negotiated project with Arthouse Architecture and a Private Developer at 28 Oxford Street, Richmond.
As part of the commercial agreement the TDC (tenant) required handover before Christmas 2013, constraining Coman Construction to just a five month build period. Working in conjunction with the Architect we were able to start off-site manufacture of precast, structural steel fabrication and prenail framing before building consent was issued. This enabled us to significantly accelerate the project and meet the agreed programme as part of the commercial agreement.
Nelson Tasman Emergency Operations Centre (Civil Defence Headquarters) occupies the ground floor. It is therefore the first building in Nelson to be designed to Importance Level 4 (structure designed to stand up to 1/2500 year seismic event). Client spokesman Mark Fawcett praised the efforts of Coman Construction for their effort and contribution in delivering the project under a particularly tight construction programme and within the contract budget.
